We want softcourtservices.com to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We do not claim full conformance. The site was built with accessibility in mind, and we look into problems when they are reported to us.

What the site does now

  • Reduced motion. If your device or browser is set to reduce motion, the site turns off smooth scrolling and scroll animation, and replaces the animated 3D sequence with a static page carrying the same words.
  • Keyboard access. Links, buttons and the menu can be reached and used with a keyboard, and the element in focus is outlined. A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content. The menu moves focus into itself when it opens, and Escape closes it and returns focus to the menu button.
  • Images. Photos that carry information have text descriptions. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
  • The 3D court model. The animated model is visual. The layers it shows are also described in text for screen readers, and the words that appear over it are ordinary page text.
  • Text. Text is real text, not pictures of text, so it can be enlarged, read aloud and translated. Pages are set in English and marked as such.
  • Layout. Pages adapt to screen sizes from phones to large monitors, and to browser zoom.

Known limitations

We would rather tell you where the site falls short than imply it is finished.

  • Some content, such as the 3D model and the scrolling photo gallery, is primarily visual. The key information in it is also available as text.
